Herzlich Willkommen!
A new school year is about to begin, and we couldn’t be more excited!
The German School of Charlotte is delighted to welcome back our returning students and families — and to extend a very special Herzlich Willkommen to all the new families joining our school community this year.
At the DSC, learning German is about much more than vocabulary, grammar, and figuring out whether it is der, die, or das. (Don’t worry — even the Germans have to think about it sometimes! 😉)
Our goal is to help our young learners develop a lifelong connection to the German language, culture, and traditions. Throughout the year, our students don't just learn German — they get to experience it.
From carrying colorful lanterns during our traditional St. Martins Umzug, singing German songs, celebrating holidays and traditions together, and discovering the stories and customs of German-speaking countries, we want our students to understand that language and culture belong together. And, of course, we get to teach them our beautiful, expressive…and occasionally wonderfully complicated German language!
But before our English-speaking friends start laughing too loudly: as if English is easy! 😂
Whether German is spoken every day in your home, your family has German-speaking roots, or your child is discovering the language and culture for the very first time, there is a place for you in our DSC community.
Most importantly, we want our students to have fun, make friends, be curious, and enjoy learning German together.
To all of our returning families: Schön, dass ihr wieder da seid!
And to all of our new families: Herzlich Willkommen in der DSC-Familie!
We are looking forward to another wonderful year of learning, laughter, friendship, culture — and, naturally, a little German grammar along the way.
Wir freuen uns auf euch!
Welcome to the German School of Charlotte!
